In Home Care
In Home Care services match caregivers to clients in need of non-medical care so that they may be able to remain in their own homes. Caregivers are employed to help with a variety of tasks from managing medications to assisting with appointment planning.
Not to be confused with In Home Health, In Home Care providers are not covered under medical insurance providers. While hiring caregivers through an In Home Care agency can be more costly, the benefit to using an insured agency is that the caregivers are employees of the agency and not employees of the consumer. Therefore, any liability falls on the Agency. Too, Agencies are responsible for performing background checks on their hired caregivers.
In Home Care providers will work to assign an appropriate caregiver based on the client's needs. Most agencies charge a minimum of a few hours per week to cover expenses, and the majority of providers offer 24-hour live in care.
In Home Care companies assist with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and they assist with medication management, appointment planning, running errands, meal preparation, and light housekeeping duties.
In Home Care is a great option for folks who are not ready to move into a licensed Board & Care or Assisted Living Community. Sometimes accepting help can be a challenge for seniors who, despite their best efforts, are losing independence because of physical challenges or the onset of cognitive impairments. With In Home Care, persons needing assistance would be able to stay in their own home while getting the assistance they need.
